Exciting News! EMPOWERED Project Kickoff in Warsaw ๐ต๐ฑ
We’re tackling something that’s been overlooked in medical education for too long – teaching future doctors how to actually communicate with patients. Sounds basic, butโฆ
The EMPOWERED project bridges a critical gap in European medical education โ structured doctor-patient communication training โ through VR simulations, AI-powered tools, and a multilingual curriculum.
Medical education across Europe consistently underdelivers on communication skills training. As patient cases grow more complex, chronic conditions more prevalent, and healthcare increasingly digital, effective doctor-patient communication has never been more critical โ yet most curricula offer no structured training for it.
The consequences are real: misdiagnoses, medical errors, and poor treatment adherence. EMPOWERED brings together five institutions from four countries to build a modern, scalable solution grounded in scientific evidence, stakeholder input, and digital innovation.

A science-based blended learning curriculum covering the key dimensions of doctor-patient communication.
Virtual simulations of real patient scenarios where students can safely practice communication skills at their own pace.
Continuously updated supplementary content generated and curated with artificial intelligence for students and educators alike.
Fully accessible materials for visually impaired students โ built in from the ground up, not added as an afterthought.
Full translations into Hungarian, Romanian, and Polish to maximise reach across European medical institutions.
Methodological resources that turn educators into multipliers, ensuring the system remains sustainable long after the project ends.
